P.A.
Legal Assistant - Full-Time
The Legal Assistant is a key member of Aronson & Associates’ legal
team, and participates in all aspects of Aronson & Associates’ practice.
He/she supports one or more attorneys in a wide-range of employment-based
immigration cases, including employer-sponsored petitions and alien
self-petitions. He/she provides professional services in a supportive
role to the Responsible Attorney on assigned cases, aimed at the
attainment of the immigration objectives of the firm’s client(s).
On assigned cases, the Legal Assistant is accountable to the Responsible
Attorney for actions undertaken on behalf of the client(s). The Legal
Assistant is expected to understand substantive, underlying fundamentals
of cases assigned to him/her and to function in a proactive manner.
He/she is expected to provide facilitative services on behalf of
the client, including extensive client interaction, with the understanding
that strategy and legal advice is beyond the scope of authorization
and is properly and necessarily referred to the Responsible Attorney
for resolution. We require a two-year minimum commitment to the position.
Responsibilities:
• Management Of Client Files
Performs case management of client files, including preparing and
maintaining up-to-date, organized client files until closing of
each case.
• Client Communication
Maintains regular and appropriate contact with individuals and corporate
clients, corporate human resource professionals, and representatives
of appropriate government agencies.
• Client Filings
Under the supervision of Associate Attorneys, prepares and files
thorough and accurate employment-related immigration documentation,
including appeals, contracts, initial and amended immigration filings,
government forms, and correspondence.
• Legal Research
As requested, researches both legal and non-legal aspects of a case
as pertaining to the attainment of client objectives.
• Legal Writing
Drafts documents at the request and under the supervision of the
Responsible Attorney, and appropriately customizes government petitions
and support letters.
• Client Intake
Conducts thorough intake interviews with prospective clients to obtain
information relative to their legal concerns.
• Case Preparation
Prepares petitions, applications, and other government forms, and
prepares matters for filing to appropriate government agencies. Presents
all draft material to Responsible Attorney for review and approval.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree and outstanding academic record required.
Other Experience
Previous international exposure/experience required, along with a wide-ranging
interest in foreign cultures. Genuine interest in immigration law and policy
required. Previous legal experience helpful, but not necessary.
Administrative
Assistant - Full Time
The Administrative Assistant is a key member of Aronson & Associates’ legal
team. He/she supports up to four attorneys in a wide-range of employment-based
immigration cases by providing administrative and clerical support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintenance of Client Files
Opens and closes client files as required. Files correspondence
and other records accurately and in a timely fashion.
• Correspondence
As requested, accurately and promptly types memos, correspondence,
reports and other documents including new appointment letters with
appropriate attachments. Prepares and sends outgoing mail.
• Scheduling
Schedules appointments for attorneys. Arranges travel schedules
and makes reservations.
• Phone Support
Answers telephone promptly and courteously. Gives appropriate information
to callers or routes call to the appropriate individual.
• Administrative
Team Support
Shares responsibilities with other Administrative Assistants for
back up coverage of phone support, FedEx, and outgoing and
incoming mail. Performs other tasks and works on projects as assigned
by the office manager.
• Office Maintenance
Helps keep reception, kitchen, and work areas in good order. Assists
Office Manager with upkeep of supply lists and office machinery.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree, or equivalent
from college, university or technical school. One to three years
related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Other Experience
Previous legal experience helpful, but not necessary.
Other Qualifications
Intermediate level computer skills
