FEE INCREASE

This first development is pretty straightforward. Effective July 30, 2007, filing fees for a wide range of immigration petitions and applications will increase. In some instances, the increase is fairly minor; in other instances, the increases are quite steep.

Among the increases of immediate impact to our clientele are the following:

• I-140 immigrant visa petition goes to $475 (from $195);

• I-130 relative petition to $355 (from $190);

• Standard I-485 adjustment of status application to $1,010 (from $395, with fingerprints);

• I-129 (i.e., H-1B) petition to $320 (from $190);

• I-765 application for employment authorization to $340 (from $180;

• I-131 application for Advance Parole to $305 (from $170);

• N-400 naturalization application to $675 (from $400, with fingerprints).

Attached is a schedule listing all of the revised fees.

At present, we are systematically reviewing all open files to see about filing any and all matters for our clients prior to the implementation of these increases. Fortunately, we have seen a major movement forward in the immigrant visa numbers for June which is enabling us to file a great many adjustment of status applications this month for our clients.

But all employers and clients should be aware of this impending increase in the immigration fee schedule and should consider moving forward, if possible, on new or existing immigration cases to beat the effective date for these revised fees.

Please contact us with questions either on the fee increases and/or prospects for filing a case before the end of this coming July.
